Julia Dattolo Appointed President and CEO of CareerSource Palm Beach County

West Palm Beach, Fla. (Dec. 9, 2020) – Julia Dattolo has been appointed by the CareerSource Palm Beach County Board of Directors and the CareerSource Palm Beach County Consortium as President and CEO of the nonprofit organization chartered by the state of Florida to lead workforce development in the county.

The appointment was announced following today’s board of directors and consortium meetings by Board Chair David Talley who said, “CareerSource Palm Beach County has an established track record as one of the top-performing workforce organizations in the state and, as interim CEO for the past 10 months, Julia has been instrumental in leading the organization toward even higher standards of excellence and responsiveness during one of the most challenging times in our county’s history. Our board members, government officials, businesses, job seekers and community partners look forward to continuing to work with her in her new role.”

Ms. Dattolo was appointed Interim President and CEO in Feb. 2020. Under her leadership during that time, CareerSource has:

- Achieved #1 in state job placements, #1 for entered employment and participation rates, and #2 for performance funding.

- Repeatedly surpassed business and program metrics as documented in state reports.

- Delivered more than $4 million in funds to profit the county in grants and merit awards obtained by staff performance.

- Pivoted the majority of services to a virtual platform to support the needs of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. In just two weeks, nearly 130 employees in three career centers were mobilized to care for clients by phone, email and online workshops. In the first two months of the pandemic, staff handled more than 18,000 calls and emails for help – a workload that normally would have extended over two years. An online Virtual Career System also was activated to provide 24/7 assistance for clients and the platform used by CareerSource for its virtual job fairs has been adopted for statewide use.

Prior to her appointment as Interim President and CEO, Ms. Dattolo served as Chief Operating Officer of Programs, Vice President of Business Services, and Director of Client Services. Among other duties in these roles, she was responsible for the oversight and coordination of the Veterans Services, Reentry Engagement Team and Health Care Recruiting departments – all of which achieved national and state recognition for outstanding performance:

- The Veterans Services department is recognized as a national leader in serving more than 4,000 veterans/spouses annually with employment preparedness, intensive services, outreach and reentry services. Local Veteran Employment Representatives established relationships with more than 400 businesses bringing in a record number of jobs. The department also has been previously recognized as 1 of 7 national “best in class” veterans’ services organizations with an Activision Call of Duty Seal of Distinction award.

- The Reentry Engagement team received a Distinguished Service Award from the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency for assisting nearly 400 previously incarcerated county residents find jobs.

- The Health Care Recruiting department serves one of the county’s most in-demand occupational sectors, coordinating partnerships and sector strategies between employers, the Palm Beach County School District, post-secondary educational institutions and professional organizations, including active membership on nine health care education advisory boards of local colleges/universities. The department sponsored the first Certified Care Coordination training in the state through the Palm Beach County Medical Society, creating a program for Respite Care and Geriatric Health Care employment.

Ms. Dattolo joined CareerSource Palm Beach County in 2015 as Manager of the Healthcare Recruiting unit following a distinguished 22-year military career which culminated in the rank of U.S. Navy Commander in charge of Jacksonville Naval Hospital Detachment and Naval Operations Support Center. She was also responsible for research, education, training and management of staff in the open-heart surgery, burns and surgery intensive care units at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville and the University of California’s San Diego Medical Center.

A proud citizen of Palm Beach County, Ms. Dattolo is a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, an alumnus of Leadership Palm Beach County, and has served in various capacities with a number of local charity and non-profit organizations.

The CEO Selection Committee appointed by the board of directors contracted with executive search firm Integrated Performance Resources, Inc. to assist with the national search that returned more than 600 applications for the position. A formal evaluation and scoring process took place that resulted in three finalist candidates and Julia’s ultimate selection.

During the past five program years, CareerSource assisted more than 71,500 residents find employment ranging from entry level to executive suite, with salaries from these jobs creating $1.4 billion in annual wages.
