CareerSource Palm Beach County announced today its participation in National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October. The purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities.
West Palm Beach, Fla. (October 1, 2018)— CareerSource Palm Beach County announced today its participation in National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October. The purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities.

CareerSource Palm Beach County takes this opportunity to emphasize its services to career seekers with disabilities who have found meaningful employment this past program year.
CareerSource Palm Beach County is an employment network for Social Security’s Ticket to Work program that supports career development for people with disabilities who want to work. Ticket to Work makes it possible for career seekers to:
- Explore work options while continuing to receive benefits
- Increase income and future earning potential
- Prepare for long-term success in the workforce
- Achieve greater self-sufficiency and personal fulfillment
The Ticket to Work unit works with career seekers with disabilities who are receiving social security benefits to provide a structured approach to their career search campaign. Specific guidance is provided at each stage in the form of assessments, tutorials, coaching and workshops. As a result, CareerSource Palm Beach County has been ranked third nationally in performance by the United States Department of Labor.
To be eligible, participants must be ages 18 to 64 and receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits.
CareerSource partners with organizations such as Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD), Autism After 21, the Palm Beach School for Autism, the Florida Division of Blind Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation to expand the services provided to individuals with disabilities.
They also hosted the second annual Reinforcing Employment Access and Career Hiring (R.E.A.C.H.) conference which featured world-renowned keynote speakers, disability expert panelists, local government and business leaders to inform Palm Beach County employers about best practices in hiring, training and retaining persons with disabilities.

Whatever career you would like to pursue, the staff at CareerSource offers classes and facilities for job searches, grants for job skills training for those who qualify, career development and consulting. During the past five program years, CareerSource Palm Beach County assisted more than 92,000 residents find employment ranging from entry level to executive suite, with salaries from these jobs creating $2.1 billion in annual average wages. CareerSource also has awarded $13 million in grants to area businesses and employees for training and educational assistance during that time.
