Career Consultant
POSITION SUMMARY
Career Consultants support CareerSource Palm Beach County (CSPBC) organizational goals of connecting business with talent by assessing and preparing job seeker clients, individually or through supportive programs leading to documented employment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Interview clients to obtain information about employment history, educational background, and career goals, and to identify barriers to employment.
2. Instruct and assist clients in career development techniques, such as (but not limited to) job search and application strategies, resume writing, interview, and networking skills.
3. Refer qualified clients to CSPBC recruiters for option 2 jobs orders.
4. Refer qualified clients to option 1 job orders.
5. Participate in recruitment and enrollment activities.
6. Conduct follow-ups with clients to determine employment status and if additional services are needed.
7. Document case notes and activities reflective of the services provided and next steps.
8. Record placement verification information.
9. Determines eligibility for referral to applicable programs, departments and/or services.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree preferred.
• Two years related experience or a combination of case management and/or providing career guidance experience with special needs, Veteran and/or barriers to employment populations preferred.
• Ability to develop and conduct public presentations preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
• Adaptability to learning new programs and ability to apply procedures and process’ in an appropriate manner.
• Spanish and/or Creole verbal fluency may be required by specific departments and/or programs.

Communication: The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person and communicate information and ideas in spoken and written format so others will understand.

TRANSPORTATION
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel in personal or commercial vehicles as required to accomplish assigned duties. If traveling in your personally owned vehicle, valid vehicle insurance is required.
