Frequently Asked Questions

What you need to know to stay on track and supported

Go to osstclient.deo.myflorida.com using Google Chrome. Select “New User” and enter your Social Security Number (no dashes), Date of Birth, and the ZIP Code you used when applying. Once you log in, complete the Online Orientation and Needs and Barriers Assessment to get started.

If you can’t log in right away, wait 24 to 48 hours after your DCF phone interview and try again. Make sure you’re using the same ZIP Code you provided when applying. If you still have trouble, call (855) 212-0880 or email CustomerInfoCenter@deo.myflorida.com for help.

Yes. Visit employflorida.com to create or update your résumé, complete the skills assessments, and perform at least one job search. This helps connect you to available job opportunities and training programs.

After you’re approved for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, also known as TANF, you’ll be referred to the Welfare Transition Program. Next, you’ll complete the Initial Assessment in OSST, meet with a staff member, complete your Individual Responsibility Plan, and begin your assigned work activities, usually between 35 and 40 hours each week. A staff member will walk you through every step.

Most participants are required to complete between 87 and 120 hours each month. A staff member will confirm the exact number based on your situation and help you plan how to meet your requirement.

If something comes up, email wtp@careersourcepbc.com as soon as possible. A staff member will help you reschedule so you can stay on track and avoid any penalties.

Once you’ve completed the virtual steps, email wtp@careersourcepbc.com with your full name, phone number, DCF case number (if known), and your request for an in-person appointment. A staff member will confirm your appointment details.

You’ll complete a form and attach any required documents, then choose how you’d like to submit them. You can either submit electronically or drop off your information at one of our career center locations. If you’re unsure which option is best for you, a staff member can guide you through the process.

If you don’t meet your participation requirements, the Department of Children and Families, also known as DCF, may apply a temporary penalty, also known as a sanction. The first level includes a short 10-day pause or until you comply, the second is one month or until compliance, and the third is three months or until compliance. Staying in touch with your staff member can help you avoid interruptions.

Email wtp@careersourcepbc.com with the subject line “Please remove sanction.” Include your full name, phone number, and DCF case number (if known). A staff member will review your request and let you know what is needed to come back into compliance, such as completing any missed activities or current assignments. Sanctions can only be lifted after compliance is confirmed under DCF rules. We’ll help you complete the required steps and keep you updated on processing.

Ask a staff member for the Medical Verification Form and have it completed by a licensed physician (not an APRN). Submit the form for review as soon as possible. You’ll need to keep participating until the deferment is officially approved.

You may qualify for an exemption if you provide full-time care for someone with a medical condition. Request the Need of Care Form from a staff member and submit it within ten days. Continue participating until your exemption is approved.

Support services may include help with childcare, transportation, or education and certification costs. A staff member will discuss your situation and connect you to resources that can help you succeed.

If you have a job or job offer and need one time help, such as with rent, utilities, or work-related expenses, you may qualify for a lump sum payment instead of enrolling in TANF. A staff member can explain how this works and whether you’re eligible.

Yes. You can choose to end TANF and continue receiving SNAP or Medicaid benefits. Be sure to inform both DCF and a staff member so your benefits are updated correctly.
