David Talley Appointed Board Chair of CareerSource Palm Beach County

West Palm Beach, Fla. (Oct. 4, 2018) – David Talley has been selected as board chair at today’s meeting of the board of directors of CareerSource Palm Beach County, the nonprofit organization chartered by the state to lead workforce development in the county. Margaret Pearson, a veteran insurance, communications and investor relations professional, will serve as vice chair. Both appointments are effective Oct. 15, 2018.

(Oct. 4, 2018) – David Talley has been selected as board chair at today’s meeting of the board of directors of CareerSource Palm Beach County, the nonprofit organization chartered by the state to lead workforce development in the county. Margaret Pearson, a veteran insurance, communications and investor relations professional, will serve as vice chair. Both appointments are effective Oct. 15, 2018.

“We are pleased that both David and Margaret have accepted these roles. Their backgrounds in both private and government settings will be of great value to the organization as we take on the many challenges ahead," said Steve Craig, President and Chief Executive Officer of CareerSource Palm Beach County.

Mr. Talley, who has served on the board of directors since 2001, is former president and CEO of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and a banker. His extensive community affiliations include serving as past chair of four organizations -- the Trustees Commission Florida for the Association of Florida Colleges, the Palm Beach State College Board of Trustees, the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, and the Palm Beach County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the School District of Palm Beach County Audit Committee and as a member of the State Attorney Advisory Board, Port of Palm Beach Audit Committee, Village of North Palm Beach Audit Committee, and the Corrections Committee of the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission.

Mr. Talley follows Ken Kirby, President and CEO of Transdermal Delivery Solutions, who will remain a member of the board of directors. Mr. Kirby served as board chair since Oct. 2014, the maximum term allowed by the organization’s bylaws. Major accomplishments during his tenure include:

  • Development and launch of the Virtual Career System, a user friendly web portal available 24/7 to guide job seekers through their job search campaign, connect employers with talent and business solutions, and introduce young adults to career opportunities. The latest version of the system will be launched to CareerSource regions statewide, local colleges/universities, and the School District of Palm Beach County.
  • Improving the outcome and effectiveness of the young adults program, serving Palm Beach County residents ages 17 to 24. In the latest reporting period, 96% of participants had a positive outcome.

During the past five program years, CareerSource Palm Beach County assisted 92,000 residents find employment ranging from entry level to executive suite, with salaries from these jobs creating $2.1 billion in annual wages.
